In addition to the Center's focus on disease prevention and early detection of cancer, the Humanitarian Support Division of the Center always supports and helps members of communities both local and abroad who are suffering. Humanitarian aid has been provided for large-scale support of nearby refugees of war and natural disasters such as the earthquake in Athens in 1999, and the wars in Kosovo, Bosnia, Novi Sad and Belgrade and other areas of Eastern Europe. The Center has also carried out campaigns for AIDS prevention. Furthermore, it has taken on efforts to protect farmers and stock-breeders from occupational hazards. As their efforts, services, and accomplishments display, the Panagia Philanthropini Center is a witness of the driving force of faith in Fellow Humans and, most of all, faith in God.
